A couple of Redwing overhead as we drank tea sat on the wall at The Butts, Warkworth were welcome additions to,'the list'.
Buzzard and Stock Dove were added on the 22nd.
On the evening of the 23rd, the sea was absolutely covered with noisy Black Headed Gulls, it hurt the eyes looking through them in low light. However a raft of 15 Common Scoter were nice. Interesting though were groups of Whooper Swan flying North, 30 or so in each group and then a larger group seemed to land in the fields towards Birling.
120 exactly I counted and a further 60+ moving north.

Now you see things like this, I don't forget, theres is something about Stock Doves too, its as if they are birds of childhood, I hope you get that, a bit soppy perhaps. I loved it anyway, I've loved March.

Not a Stock Dove but a Woodpigeon seemingly nesting under the pier |
Track of the day from early March, Warkworth |
I have used the word 'quiet' in my last post John. It is never quiet. I should have had the post title as simple pleasures or something like that as everything natural is pleasurable and species no matter what form don't have to be rare. I have plenty of 'tracks of the day' pics stored on the computer so I might post some of these unless you have copyright on the title! Nice post John
ReplyDeleteOh, yes, I think I've used it too Nigel, I suppose we all do, all of the time. I never find that I'm writing very well and often just say what I'm thinking. You will certainly know what I'm on about, those Stock Doves were fabulous and I was trying to get across how much I'd enjoyed them when really, they are a bird that wont have people rushing to observe..
ReplyDeleteI love 'tracks' they take you away. You'll have some fabulous photographs I bet, you get to some proper places, look forward to seeing them..
